“The additional service is well received”
For SIS Internationale Speditions-GmbH, emissions evaluations are a "must-have" in its portfolio. The company relies on CargoSoft's CO₂ tool for this. SIS has been offering emissions calculations for over two years and demand is growing. In a short interview with CargoSoft, Head of Sea Freight Nikolai Gutsch reports on his experiences.
How do you use the CO₂ calculation at SIS?
For SIS Internationale Speditions-GmbH, emissions evaluations are a “must-have” in its portfolio. The company relies on CargoSoft’sCO2 tool for this purpose. SIS has been offering emissions calculations for over 2 years and demand is growing. In a brief interview with CargoSoft, Nikolai Gutsch, Head of Sea Freight, reports on his experiences.
What advantages do you expect from the new CO₂ tool?
The newCO2 tool expands the possibilities for sharing data in a simple, standardized and easily analyzable way. Thanks to the direct integration in CargoSoft, calculations can be created and displayed automatically. This reduces manual effort and minimizes potential sources of error. At the same time, standardized and comprehensible calculation methods create a uniform basis so that customers receive consistent reports at all times. In addition, the data can be evaluated in a structured manner and, if required, can also be made available at shipment level for individual customers.
To what extent do you actively market the CO₂ calculation?
We do not see the CO₂ calculation as a classic sales or marketing tool, but as a contemporary service in logistics. Transports from A to B can generally be organized by many providers. However, additional transparency and reliable data create real added value. That is why we actively communicate that we are able to present emission values in an automated and comprehensible way. This has become a relevant factor, particularly in tenders and strategic discussions with customers.
For which customer groups does CO₂ determination play a role and what do they expect?
Demand is particularly high among companies with their own CO₂ reduction strategies, international customers with complex supply chains, industrial companies with ESG reporting obligations and corporations with clearly defined sustainability targets. Above all, these customer groups expect valid, standardized and regularly available calculations. Equally important to them is a transparent data basis, ideally differentiated by upstream, mainstream and downstream.
